Re: Charlie + William: Bookaholics || April 2020
from Charlie_Fitzgerald on 04/09/2020 08:10 PMCharlie was weird. Her own kind of weird, which was good. And she wouldn't change that because somebody asked her to. But she didn't like the thought of being alone, and therefore, fitting in a bit, was not bad. Beside that, she seemingly made friends quite easily. Maybe it was her way of being kind and giving everyone a chance, or the fact that she was so empathetic, that she was a good listener and people seemed to trust her more easily.
Trust, she never took lately or would dare to waste.
She was pure in so many ways, it was questionable how she even made it so far without being stained for life already. But maybe the environment of Toverra made this possible. Except for some minor things that she usually left unsaid.
"I tried. Some of those titles are not that long and all Stephen King books can be found easily, so I didn't have to add very much."
While he made his way to the horror section, she opened the second big box of books, quickly sorted them in smaller piles before sitting down again. Again, the whole process of typing in the title and the ISBN-Number, checking if it can be found in local bookshops and online sides to copy the information, and otherwise filling them in herself.
Thirty minutes were enough to sort through the most of the books of that box. She was able to type quite fast, her finger practically flying over the keyboard to add the needed information.
"Oh well," She laughed, "If you want, you can bring them already to the archives and then take these books over here. They are already in the system now. Still horror section. I start to think my aunt isn't a big horror fan."
Re: Castiel + Charlie: first meeting || April 2020
from Charlie_Fitzgerald on 04/09/2020 07:51 PMJust another day of work at the Restaurant - but this time, she was a bit late. She didn't get up in time and miscalculated. So she had been running as fast as she could towards the Restaurant in order to start her shift still in time.
Castiel must have been lucky. They only offer one soup on the whole menu, so it shouldn't be too hard to pick that one.
She wasn't scared or anything - just a bit out of breath, when she arrived, before quickly making her way to the kitchen and putting on the work clothes - her apron - and then walking out again, ready with pen and paper, to accept new orders and do her job as a waittress. Since everybody seemed to be served, her eyes fell onto a man who was seemingly enjoying his soup, but didn't have anythink to drink yet. Which is why she was walking over to his table, standing in front of it and smiling at him.
"Hope you enjoy the soup?" It was delicious. She knew it herself. One of her favourite dishes.
"Erm-" She was clearly irritated by the bunch of sudden questions with which she was overwhelmed. And nothing of those seemed food or drink related. Her boss liked her, but she didn't like it when she was talking too much with the costumers. You could accidentally overlook and ignore the others, if you concentrate too much on one.
"I'm - alright, Sir. I was going to ask if you want to drink anything, to be honest. Quiet?" It was fairly quiet because around this time, not too many were eating. Lunch time was just over. And dinner time hasn't come yet. And people prefer to not shout inside restaurants.
"Quiet? Walking dead?" She clearly had no idea what he was talking about. A look outside the window showed the usual picture of the town. People going after their businesses and returning home from work. People who were walking their dogs, and kids that finally had done their homework and were free to stroll the city with friends now.
"Heard about - I'm sorry, I don't really know what you are talking about exactly."

Re: Charlie + William: Bookaholics || April 2020
from Charlie_Fitzgerald on 04/08/2020 12:38 AMIt was good, that she was making him feel good. She wouldn't want it to be any other way. Making someone uncomfortable was horrible, for her. Indeed, Charlie was a person who liked to please everyone as much as she could - while also standing up for herself and her believes. Hurting someone? Never intentionally, and if she should do so, she would regret it terribly a few moments later and apologize.
She still looked quite young. Maybe that also added to the feeling of missing someone he almost considered a daughter. And to be honest, Charlie probably wouldn't mind a partly adoption. Her friends were her family, for a reason.
Charlie was truly adopted, when she was still a baby. And while she did have loving parents, who always showered her with kindness and raised her to become the independet, loving woman she is today, she still had the feeling of not truly belonging from time to time. Does he knows that feeling? When you are loved, and you know they accept you, but you still feel like something is missing? Maybe that's why she actually has plenty of friends. She build her own family, next to the one that actually adopted her. Many people that were surrounding her in her daily life. And she needed it, in a way. She felt safer, like that.
Being alone - if you didn't want to be alone - was awful. In fact, being the last one on planet earth is something that haunts her in her nightmares.
His smile made her smile even brighter. "Thank you, again. That's very kind of you." She closed both hands around the hot cup in front of her. The smell of apple pie. Yes, definitely the right thing right now. "All the books just belong into the horror section, Stephen King. Shouldn't be too hard. I think the only problem might be, that there is not enough space. If there are any books that we would suddenly have twice - put them on the cart again, where you know that we have them twice. Then we can put them in the archive until someone needs the second copy of that urgently. Like that, the shelves won't be filled with the same books over and over again. And - these books are not sorted. Except that all belong to Stephen King, you won't find any sort of order in the shelves. So you might need a while to take a look at every book and figure out if we have something twice."
Re: Charlie + William: Bookaholics || April 2020
from Charlie_Fitzgerald on 04/07/2020 11:50 PMIf he would have refused the handshake, she wouldn't have been mad. There are reasons why some people don't like it, and Charlie can understand it fully. Really. "Charlie Fitzgerald," She nodded friendly. Oh - he probably has been here before, then. If he already knew where the room was to make tea and coffee. Probably one in those many days, where she had been working, or playing in the theatre. After all, Charlie had loads of stuff to do. Coming into the library was nice, but she didn't always have the time.
"Tea, please. There should still be apple pie tea. May sound weird, but - that's the one I like." She absolutely loved apples, and everything with apples. Apples were her favourite fruit, probably. At least she can't think of any fruit she likes more than apples on the spot.
And she was also, as he may have noticed when she mentioned 'apple pie tea', a sucker for sweet things. "Two sugar. Nothing else." Too much sugar wasn't healthy, but she needed it. Sugar was great! And this is the reason why she disliked coffee. It was way too bitter for her. Even with milk and loads of sugar, it still wasn't enough to cover that bitter taste.
Which is also why she doesn't like alcohol. Also way too bitter. Not her thing.
But that was something for another day. "Thank you, William!" She gifted him with another smile, before returning to the last four books of this very first box. Then she would have one finished, and four more boxes to go.
They were added rather quickly, since the titles were rather short. As far as she noticed, every single book of this box would get into the horror section, to the name of Stephen King. The water would take a few minutes to boil, and in that time, she already started to put the books onto a trolley that he could then use to sort in the books. This was way better than actually have to carry them everywhere.
Re: Charlie + William: Bookaholics || April 2020
from Charlie_Fitzgerald on 04/07/2020 11:18 PMShe heard footsteps approaching, and looked up to see if she could help. A warm smile on her lips, like she had all the time. Charlie Fitzgerald had a quite sunshine-like personality and loves to help wherever she could. She actually hasn't met him yet, but new faces weren't something entirely new in such a big city.
And even if they met before - if they didn't talk, she most likely won't remember him. Her memory for faces and people in general was awful. It simply wasn't something that seemed very important. She remembered the character of a person, and how they interacted with her. She will remember what they said and did, maybe. But how they looked like? Bit critiquel, if she wasn't deeming you a friend.
"Er - yes." She chuckled, shortly looking behind her back. "Er - yes, I actually - could use some help, yes. I'm Charlie, by the way."
She offered him her hand, while trying to figure out what the name was that the owner mentioned in the small text message.
'____ may stop by today and help you out'. Was this the person they talked about? What was the name again... Dammit. She forgot.
"Are you - okay?" She tilted her head a bit, looking concerned. He looked as if he wasn't feeling too well. And the last thing she wanted, is someone who should probably rather lay in bed and sleep and drink tea.
"You don't have to help me all the time, by the way. It- probably will be boring at some point. You just work as long as you feel like. I mean, you won't really get paid for it. But I can offer to make you a tea? Or a coffe, if you like?"
Maybe this would already help him a bit.
Charlie + William: Bookaholics || April 2020
from Charlie_Fitzgerald on 04/07/2020 10:44 PMCharlie was standing in front of at five big boxes. All quite heavy, and all filled with books. After work, she had promised the library to stop by. After all, the fact that they got those boxes is kinda her fault. Her aunt was moving right now, and basically sorted out. Actually, she wanted to throw all the books away, originally, but Charlie screamed before they could do anything and offered to drive out with her father and actually get those boxes. And thankfully, they weren't thrown away. She can't stand people who would just throw books away. Books are quite precious to her, almost like children (yes, she was talking to her books at home, and yes, she was calling them her babies, and yes, she cuddled with them and they got kisses if she accidentally dropped them - she was that kind of book person). Sadly, her own little flat was already filled with loads of books and therefore, she decided the local library could always use some new copies. After all, getting books as a library was a bit difficult - it's not like they made loads of money through membership cards or anything. The amount to pay to be a part of this small book loving community was a few dollar a year. This wasn't much. Most books in here were collected, donated by people and sometimes even book stores.
Now someone only had to take out every book, and put it into the system. Meaning: Writing down the title, the ISBN-Number and then see if the system found a copy of that book so they can add a cover and a small discription like that. If that wasn't the case, then there would be no cover, but you had to write a small discription of the book (usually what's on the back). This was LOADS of work and surely would need several days. In those boxes were surely about 300 books. And if she actually finishes THAT, then she still had to sort them into the shelves which meant making new space, maybe, and look how and if everything fits.
Charlie already decided she would do one box after another - and once one box was completely in the system, she would sort them into the shelves. This was easier and would make some actual space.
Currently, she was sitting on the computer, sighing, as she took another Stephen King Book in her hand, to write down the title and the ISBN-Number. At least two boxes would just be a huge Stephen King collection, that much she knew already. Currently: IT.
